The Eldheimar Museum was opened in May 2014. It is the museum of the largest natural disaster in Iceland, that is the eruption of the Eldfell volcano in 1973 on the island of Heimaey. People evacuated the island in the middle of the night, some never saw their belongings and property again. In the museum, one can also see some of the residents' everyday life before the eruption. In the middle of the museum there is a building partly covered with ash from the eruption and many other amazing attractions. More information about the museum at http://eldheimar.is/en/
